Wood
as a living matter, does really support very well humidity and (or)
an excessive heat as well as water. Therefore, slides storage shall
have to be in a dry ventilated place, with no exposition to sun rays
or near a source of heat. Possible finish products must have a solvent
base and under no circumstance a water-soluble base.
The
mechanical resistance of the slides is directly related to the length
of the strips crossings.
The definition of a table slide may be achieved in various ways. The
economical approach consists in reducing at the maximum strips crossings,
reducing that way the resistance of the product submitted to load. Risks
are then important for the breakage of a slide submitted to excessive
strength may lead to serious consequences on persons. Designers or manufacturers
must also take into account the problems of the system stability : a
central leg table with 3 leaves is very unstable and we strongly advise
to impose the usage of supplementary legs in order to avoid any type
of accident related to unbalance. in the same way, a four leg table
with the same number of leaves shall have a poor mechanical resistance
in the middle. Supplementary legs set in the centre would then support
the load. Refer to Models
per Series section to define the number of supplementary legs to
be installed according to the type of slide used.
